What the studies found

Men with low sperm counts (Anapliotou et al., 1996)

• What was given — 8 men without GH deficiency, three protocols 3 months apart: hCG alone (1,500 IU three times), hCG plus GH 4 IU daily, and hCG plus placebo.
• What it found — IGF-1 rose more than threefold on GH. Seminal IGF-1 did not change, and the steroid response to hCG was the same in all three protocols except for higher progesterone on GH. The authors: a “weak synergist effect on steroidogenesis.”
• Limits — 8 men, short-term.

No study of hCG with HGH for testosterone or physique turned up in PubMed or Europe PMC (searched September 29, 2026).
