What the studies found
Boys with undescended testes (Lala et al., 1993)
- What was given — 238 boys aged 4 to 48 months: LHRH (gonadorelin) nasal spray 1.2 mg a day for 4 weeks, then hCG 500 IU three times a week for 3 weeks in those who didn't respond.
- What it found — With the combined treatment 37.8% of testes descended into the scrotum, more often when they started lower.
- Limits — No comparison group in the abstract.
No study of gonadorelin with hCG in men on testosterone therapy turned up in PubMed or Europe PMC (searched September 29, 2026).
Legal Status
Gonadorelin: Compounded Rx. Once an approved drug (Factrel, 1982–2004; Lutrepulse, 1989–2002); compounded legally today.
HCG: FDA approved. Prescribed by a doctor, made by a manufacturer.
